I'm Brandon, I am 16, and I'm an artist. I have taken a course in high school, and I've been drawing all of my life. I love art, and I want to be a tattoo artist. I am in love with tattooing and I think it holds many powers and dreams inside of the art, I am the type of person who would only tattoo meaningful tattoos, and I will never do the same tattoo twice, I am original and I will do my own work. I'm going to try to be an apprentice because I have absolutely no money for college or anything. Thanks for the info, it was very useful.

Hi I'm also scratcher I'm praticing on my self...:)
I did not ruin my legs yet but still my colours are very fade not vibrant ..
I try to not overwork my area , using med quality inks ( i think ) kuro sumi and others.
biggest problem is lining and shading set up of machine :::
Any instructions sites with vids or stuff like this?????
all i found is this witch is not enough for me
"short stroke and run about 6.5v don't need a lot of volts as not using a lot of needles.
set the gap to 1.25mm this is done by depressing the armature bar down and screwing the contact screw until you get the 1.25mm gap between the tip of the contact screw and the front spring. hope this helps.
dime= 1.25mm gap for liner set up
nickel= 1.85mm gap for shading set up"
Any one some advice....

Aloha! I am 30 young and interested in becoming a tattoo artist. I have always loved art and used to draw....but haven't in many years. I airbrush tan and everytime I spray i think of an empty canvas. I have tattoos and get several compliments. I can always think of ideas for people and I crave to invent and make other people's imagination come to life on their body. I am wondering if it is too late for me? How should I go about starting??

hi, im a 'scratcher'..my partner bought the set 3months ago as a hobby for himself, we work with disposable tips and prepacked needles and follow the safety rules. we have freinds asking for tats, and we just charge for the needles inks and grips used-we are thankful for the practice. even a freind who owns a shop and has done tats for over 30 years has said my work os great for a begginner and that it takes years to perfect and that the best training is practice. we have dvds that are available from ebay on how to set up yr gun etc and how u prep areas etc, well worth the look mike..happy tattooing ;)

Mike,

The pedal and clip cord go into your power supply. the "hook deals" are your clip cord. the "hooks" go into small holes on the tail end of your machine. BUT Burt is right, please get some instruction! there's alot of intricate parts to tattooing and it's very difficult to learn just by doing. Also there are many areas which require you to be licenced in order to tattoo. you MUST know how to properly steralize your environment before you begin tattooing. PLEASE DONT TATTOO UNSAFE!

alot of scratchers arent ruining the business at lewast I dont think so. do you think every great artist is able to apprentice? yeah no. I have a friend whos a scratcher and he's wonderful..just learning. and where I am the tattoo shops out here are filled with elitist jerks who dont even want to apprentice people because thier afraid of the competition. (because thier fairly poor artists)... stuff happens.
